Welcome to Transitional Kindergarten

Our TK program is a unique early learning experience designed to help young children build a strong foundation for lifelong academic and social success. We make learning fun, interactive, and appropriately challenging. The heart of our TK classroom is kindness and laughter. We strive to create a space where every child feels safe, supported, and joyful—a place where they are free to be themselves, take risks, and know they truly belong.

Curriculum Approach and Philosophy
Our TK curriculum is designed to engage the whole child through joyful, hands-on learning across a wide range of subjects. When students are engaged and excited, they thrive—not just academically, but emotionally and socially, too. Students participate in collaborative conversations with diverse peers, exploring topics and texts that spark curiosity and build early communication skills. We make learning fun by blending music, art, literature, and interactive experiences that lay the foundation for beginning reading and math. We nurture a sense of wonder—where children are natural explorers, discovering the world through observation, questions, and hands-on investigation.
We are deeply committed to fostering a supportive, hands-on environment that encourages curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning. They hear weekly Bible stories and attend chapel where they learn about God’s love and treating each other with love and kindness. To further enrich their experience, students also enjoy weekly instruction from specialist teachers in PE, Spanish, STEM, technology, and music. This well-rounded approach ensures every child grows not only academically, but also socially, emotionally, spiritually, and creatively.
Special Projects
We’re building something big—our alphabet! As we learn each letter, we “construct” our classroom alphabet wall, one letter at a time.
We also build a life-sized version of their own human body using construction paper. We add to these cutouts weekly as students learn about different organs and body parts.

Homework policy
In TK, we believe homework should be developmentally appropriate, engaging, and support what we’re learning in class—without overwhelming students or families. That’s why we begin homework in October, once students are more comfortable with classroom routines and ready for a bit of structured review at home.
Homework is sent home once a week and is designed to be both fun and flexible. Each student receives a single sheet with four boxes labeled Monday through Thursday. Activities range across subjects and are meant to reinforce skills in playful, hands-on ways.
Technology
In TK, technology is used sparingly. A smart board in the front of the class is used for projecting project instruction and “brain breaks.” iPads are used for weekly technology classes, where students learn to use technology with respect, sign in and sign out independently, and learn foundational concepts for programming, which supports critical thinking and number sense skills.
